When the Eiffel Tower was opened in 1889, for the Universal Exhibition, it was a state-of-the-art metal construction forecast to last only twenty years or so! This powerful symbol, miniature copies of which are bought by the million in souvenir shops, represents Paris and France all around the world. At the foot of the tower, the lawns of Champ de Mars (Mars field) extend to Ecole Militaire (Army school), an edifice that dates back to the 18th century. On a fine day, you can relax or enjoy a picnic on the grass.

There are several restaurants inside the Tower itself. The most renowned one, “Jules Verne”, is located on the second floor. With its “modern, accessible” cuisine, courtesy of the famous French gourmet chef Alain Ducasse, you can enjoy a unique view of Paris, at a height of forty feet.

A few minutes away from Eiffel Seine hotel, at the foot of the Eiffel Tower, you will find quai des Bateaux Parisiens (the Parisian boats dock), for a cruise down the Seine River. A perfect opportunity to while away the time in the French capital, on a simple boat trip or during a lunch or dinner on water. www.lejulesverne-paris.com www.bateauxparisiens.com
